Songtsam Benzilan
Overview
In a small, lush green valley on the upper reaches of the great Yangtze River, there is an isolated spiritual retreat--the Songtsam Benzilan Lodge. The focus of the Lodge is spirituality, making it the ideal place for those wishing to find peace and enlightenment.
Guests can roam freely through nearby fields of barley and wheat or observe landscapes of orchards irrigated by Himalayan snow melt and dotted with white-washed Tibetan houses and stupas decorated with exquisite murals.
Whether you wish you immerse yourself in local Buddhist culture or silently contemplate the astonishing purity of the location, Benzilan offers the perfect environment. Guests can visit Tibetan monasteries and nunneries as well as local villages, including the home of the famous Tibetan Black Pottery in nearby Nixi.

Diqing Shangri-La Airport [DIG] (85km or 53mi): Taxi to Town of Shangri-La, CNY 30. Proceed from Town of Shangri-La.
Lijiang (254km or 158mi): Local rental car with driver, CNY 2,000.
Kunming Wujiaba International Airport [KMG] (703km or 437mi): Daily flights from KMG to DIG, 1 hour, CNY 700 per person. Then proceed from DIG and Town of Shangri-La.
Climate
Benzilan enjoys a pleasant weather all year around. The temperature ranges from 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F) in summer, and 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) in winter.
Health
Since Benzilan is located in a valley of a lower altitude (1,900m or 2,333ft), people normally do not experience altitude sickness here. However, sun protection is needed to protect against intense exposure during outdoor activities.
