Overview
Perched on a high bluff overlooking the achingly beautiful glaciers of the Meili Snow Mountainin Tibet, the location of the Songtsam Meili Hotel will absolutely take your breath away. Meili is the tallest mountain in Yunnan, and its 6,740 meter (22,113 ft) peak remains unconquered by humans.
Located in a quiet Tibetan village, each room of the Songtsam Meili hotel gazes onto the spectacular Mountain. One can take a peaceful morning stroll in the nearby village, which is home to only five families, or sit on the balcony watching the sun set over the mountains.
For the more adventurous, you can take a 2 day ‘kora’ pilgrimage around the holy mountain, basking in the wonderful scenery, holiness and stillness of the glaciers. Here, where the earth meets the sky, you will discover the Lost Horizons of this ethereal landscape.

Getting There From
Town of Deqin: By taxi, CNY 100.
Town of Shangri-La (184km or 114mi): Coach bus from Town of Shangri-La to Town of Deqin, 6 hours, CNY 33. Proceed from Town of Deqin | Local rental car with driver, CNY 1,000.
Kunming Wujiaba International Airport [KMG] (703km or 437mi): Daily flights from KMG to DIG, 1 hour, CNY 700. Proceed from Town of Shangri-La.

Climate
Daily temperatures fluctuate greatly in Deqin. Layered clothing is highly recommended for all seasons. Even in summer, warm clothing is necessary in case of low nightly temperatures and occasional snowfall.
- Rainy season starts in June and ends in September.
- Winter temperatures range from -10°C to 5°C (14°F to 41°F).
- Autumn & Spring temperatures range from 0°C to 18°C (32°F to 64°F).
- Summer temperatures range from 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).
Health
At a relatively high altitude (3,400m or 11,155ft), most people will suffer from altitude stress in Deqin. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, and pressure in the chest. To prevent altitude sickness or to alleviate the symptoms, try to avoid drinking alcohol and strenuous activities.
Rainfall is hard to predict in Deqin. We recommend bringing rainwear even in dry season.
Sun radiation is very strong all year around. Sun protection is necessary to protect from burns and intense exposure.
