Chengdu - Wolong
Visit the National Earthquake Memorial • Energy levels permitting, hike alongside the twists and turns of the river running through Dengsheng Valley
Explore the dense forests of Wolong Nature Reserve in search of wild pandas, while learning the finer points of panda conservation from expert guides. Get up close and personal with some of the resident giants as you help feed them and maintain their enclosures, then take a night drive through the reserve to find the other nocturnal dwellers.
Set in a primeval forest deep in Sichuan, the Wolong Nature Reserve is one of the last strongholds for wild giant pandas in China. After a devastating earthquake tore through Sichuan Province in 2008, the original Wolong panda reserve and research centers were destroyed. Now re-opened for the public and the pandas, the Wolong Nature Reserve is home once again to the gentle giants that are being conditioned for reintegration into the wild. Track the pandas, study their droppings for population clues, and volunteer as a keeper for those still living in the breeding center.

MMHLondon-Madison, Jan 2020WildChina gave our family (party of 4 with two 20 something children) a truly memorable, first class touring adventure around China, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will remember and treasure forever. This was our first private tour anywhere. We tend to research a place and do it "our way." This trip changed my view of traveling—so much of what we did and saw could not have been accomplished on our own, and certainly without any knowledge of Mandarin. And throughout the trip, we luxuriated in the knowledge we were in the safe and savvy hands of WildChina. They made the trip extraordinary—I never could have arranged what they did and as seamlessly. We would highly recommend WildChina to anyone who is thinking about taking a trip to China and would not hesitate to book another tour with them again!

A & R , May 2019We had a good trip with NatHab and saw lots of pandas (none in the wild but they told us that would be exceedingly rare) but plenty of cute babies playing and we got to clean some panda enclosures and feed them some carrots. Also, saw the golden snub-nosed monkeys which were very entertaining and the beautiful golden pheasants and lots of Takin and other wildlife.
You and your staff did an excellent job in organizing our trip and we will definitely refer our friends and will contact you again when we return to China.
M., Nov 2018We just returned from a 10-day trip to Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai with WildChina, and it was amazing. WildChina's recommended accommodations were just what we were looking for to celebrate our 5th anniversary. What really set this trip apart from previous trips we have done were the guides - who were phenomenal...Also, Christine, who arranged the itinerary and fielded my many, many pre-trip emails, was beyond helpful and patient. In celebration of our 5th anniversary, Christine and WildChina arranged a champagne picnic for us on the Great Wall - it was incredible and a day we will never forget.
